As of now, United has not formally approached PSG regarding Ugarte, as they are exploring different options for the 23-year-old player. Ugarte, who is a Uruguay international, played 37 matches for PSG last season, including 25 appearances in Ligue 1.
United has been keeping tabs on Ugarte since his time at Sporting Lisbon and was previously associated with him before his transfer to PSG last summer for approximately £50 million ($63 million).
Given uncertainties surrounding Casemiro's future at United, with his struggles in his second season at the club, United is in the market for a defensive midfielder. While Casemiro's contract extends until 2026, the club is aiming to reduce its wage bill following the departures of players like David de Gea, Raphael Varane, and Anthony Martial on free transfers.
Aside from Ugarte, United is also pursuing deals for Jarrad Branthwaite and Joshua Zirkzy. Despite Everton's high valuation of over £70 million for Branthwaite, United is still actively pursuing the English defender. Moreover, the club is interested in Lenny Yorou from Lille and Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, both of whom have impressed.
Joshua Zirkzy is a striker being considered by United, along with other targets like Jonathan David from Lille and Ivan Toney from Brentford. While uncertainties exist regarding players like Christian Eriksen and Sofiane Amrbat, United is actively involved in the transfer market, looking to reinforce various positions for the upcoming season.
