Pop singer Justin Timberlake was arrested early Tuesday for driving under the influence in Sag Harbor, New York. Authorities reported that he ran a stop sign and swerved out of his lane in the upscale Hamptons area. The former boy band member, now a solo artist and actor, was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. while driving a 2025 BMW.
According to court documents, Timberlake exhibited signs of intoxication, with bloodshot and glassy eyes, the smell of alcohol on his breath, impaired attention, slow speech, unsteadiness on his feet, and poor performance on sobriety tests. He claimed to have consumed one martini and was following friends home.
Following his arrest, Timberlake refused a breath test. He was released without bond after being arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 26. His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., stated that Timberlake does not need to be present in court.
Despite the incident, support for Timberlake was visible in Sag Harbor, with onlookers gathering at the courthouse and even music icon Billy Joel making a statement. Timberlake, known for his music career and acting roles, has a history of hits and performances, as well as notable controversies such as the 2004 Super Bowl incident with Janet Jackson.
Recently, Timberlake was involved in a publicized narrative with ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and released a new album after a six-year hiatus. He is set to perform in Chicago and New York in the coming days. Sag Harbor, with its rich cultural history and notable residents, remains a distinctive enclave in the Hamptons.
